  • Great podcast Mike! 2 questions:

    1) How much green tea extract should be taken for an effect? My pills are 400mg per pill, including 32mg caffeine naturally

    2) Is there a difference between keto-7 DHEA and just straight DHEA? I’ve heard positive things about the latter.

    Quick related question: How do you feel about using White Kidney Bean Extract just before a big cheat meal? Examine.com seems to endorse them as an effective calorie-blocker (I make sure to reference Examine before trying any new supplement and is the reason why I love your line of supplements so much!). I understand that carbs are important in general for fueling workouts so I’m not suggesting using it regularly like some people, only right before a big cheat to reduce the “damage”. I haven’t tried it yet but I was wondering if you’ve heard anything about it.

      The effects are very minimal so I’d say it’s not going to do much of anything.

      I’ve looked at making a pre-cheat supplement but can’t come up with anything that is actually worth selling.

        Ya, I can tell from looking at the studies it consistently seems to have an effect (especially for higher carb diets), but seems mostly negligible. I was just thinking that I could pick up a bottle relatively inexpensively that would last a year or 2, and pop them only before cheats while on maintenance. Best case: it saves me a few weeks of cutting (a pound here or there) over the course of a year or 2. Worst case: I’m out a few bucks and I’ll know not to get them again. I just wanted to make sure they weren’t a total scam or anything so thanks for clarifying that! 🙂

        I remember you talking about that in a podcast too! It would be cool if something like that existed, but that’s just wishful dreaming haha! I can’t wait for your greens/sleep products personally! Hope they come out soon!

        • Exactly and honestly I doubt it will even do that much.

          But let me know what you find.

          Haha if I ever CAN make a product like that I will.

            True, but it’s worth a shot to me personally and I’ll be sure to let you know the results of my little “n=1 study” since I keep meticulous body composition logs so you can have yet another verdict on it!

            Also, unrelated but I loved your second podcast on pre-workout supplements! That got me looking into ALCAR to try myself. Quick question: how much ALCAR would you consider supplementing with pre-workout in addition to Pulse for the “clinically effective dose”? Many studies on Examine seem to suggest 2g. Does that seem like too much/too little to you?

    Hey mike, love what you do. Without a doubt my go to source with anything health, gym or fitness related. Just wondering based on living in the UK weather you’ll do something with amazon uk regarding legion? Would love to try your supplements but you cant buy them in the uk, or get them delivered on amazon US to the UK. I’ve looked o your site but the delivery is over $60 for delivery which is more than the products.

    I just bought some Phoenix. It says to maximize the effect to take it with caffeine. Yet it also states to take with a meal. Since I want to train fasted yet use caffeine at the same time when should I take the Phoenix? Does the timing matter? Thanks.

    • It’s recommended to take with meals because for some, it can be a bit much on an empty stomach.

      Try it out fasted with caffeine. If you feel fine, feel free to use it that way consistently. If not, stick to taking it with meals.
