I'm Stuart M. and this is my story

My name is Stuart, and I am a 41 year old software consultant from Dallas. I had been a casual runner off and on over the years but had never done anything more than casual weight lifting and had never made any significant gains. In addition, I had always equated eating healthy to eating light, which led to the roller coaster of alternating between starvation diets and pigging out. For the past 5 years, I hadn’t worked out much at all. I ate and drank too much, and gained about 40 lbs of fat.

A few months ago, I made the decision to get into shape and live a healthier lifestyle. I did lots of cardio and lost 30 lbs. but was terribly self-conscious about weight training. I wanted to get stronger but wasn’t sure if I was doing the right exercises or performing them correctly. I was trying to find help but was getting lost in the myriad of health and muscle magazines and fad workouts sold on the internet and late night TV. I suspected there was a better way. I just needed to find it.

I ran across Mike Matthew’s books on Amazon, and they opened my eyes. I realized how wrong I had been about so many things related to diet and exercise, and it helped me realize that having a stronger, muscular physique was within reach. It was all there in Bigger, Leaner, Stronger. A step by step guide to how to construct a diet and exercise plan. Suddenly, all the excuses I had made over the years were no longer valid. All I needed was the self-discipline to stick with the program.

After 6 months following the BLS program, I have gained almost 25 lbs of lean muscle and significantly increased my strength across the board. I am now one of the stronger, more confident guys in the gym on a given day. My body has transformed, and it amazes me every time I walk past a mirror. I feel healthier and more energetic than I have in my entire life. My kids are proud of me and like to brag about my muscles to their friends. My relationship with my wife is stronger and more intimate than ever (use your imagination!). Most of all, I have a new self-confidence that permeates the other areas of my life as well. It seems crazy to me that getting in better shape would transform my attitude towards work, but it has. I am more confident taking on new projects at work, and I have more energy and focus to see them through.

The BLS program is not magic or hype. It is not designed to sell a bunch of useless equipment, DVDs, or supplements. It is simple, straight-forward plan for living, eating, and working out. I can’t imagine living any other way. Mike Matthew’s books, articles, tweets, and emails are highly motivating and have become invaluable resources for me. Though my specific training goals may change over time, the BLS principles will serve as the basis for my nutrition and fitness plans for the rest of my life.
