What has happened so far on the program?

I first discovered the program in the fall of 2012 and made the decision to immediately bulk. I slightly overshot my diet and, while I saw great gains in the gym, I put on a little more fat than I had wanted to. The end of this bulk is my first “before” picture in February of 2013 where I’m at about 195 lbs. Needless to say I was able to steadily cut and get down to a lean and mean 170 in time for the wedding while keeping most of my strength (not to mention looking like James Bond in my tux). While I’ve done many of the lifts in the program before, the nutrition aspect of the program has been the biggest learning experience for me. I’ve been able to take the lessons learned from the first bulk and use them in my most recent attempt. So far I have gained about 8 lbs in the past two months with very little change in my BF%.

What do you like most about the program?

The best part of the program for me is the knowledge that what I’m doing is going to get noticeable results. Every meal and every workout is going to make a difference on the scale, with a measuring tape and in the mirror. It creates a huge amount of self-confidence having that amount of control over your own body where so many other people just feel lost.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

I was fully motivated to get going on the program after learning about Mike and his approach to fitness and bodybuilding. My wife and I got married in June so that had been our previous short- term goal. The success we have had on Bigger Leaner Stronger and Thinner Leaner Stronger have inspired us both to incorporate Mike’s style of lifting and nutrition into our lifestyle since then.

What are three other benefits of the program?

The rapid results you get from the program generate their own “slippery slope”. The more positive results you see, the harder you want to try. You look forward to workouts with the knowledge that you’ll look and feel better when you’re done. Challenging yourself to improve becomes its own game with a reward every day. Also, as Mike has pointed out in his books and articles, consuming and knowing how much healthy food to eat is fulfilling on a much deeper level than just stuffing large amounts of junk into your body. The short-term thrill of pigging out all the time gets replaced by the long-term satisfaction of knowing that you are taking care of your body as well as looking and feeling great. You really won’t miss junk foods once you steadily give you body nutritious whole foods. Lastly, my wife and I got into the program together so having her as a workout partner and support system throughout the experience has been awesome!

Would you recommend this program? If so, why?

Absolutely! If the reasons above aren’t enough to at least give it a try, I don’t know what to tell you. This could be considered a 4th benift but I have to give a shout out to Mike. I’ve sent him several emails and tweets for advice and guidance and he has always replied positively and promptly. When you consider all of the books, articles, podcasts, inspirational tweets/pics, equipment and supplement recommendations, meal planning and more, the man has gone above and beyond to provide anyone the tools they need to improve the way the look and feel. All that’s left is for you to show up and lift that heavy-ass weight!
