How many months’ progress do your pictures represent? What were your stats for each picture?

They represent 27 months.

I was 220 lb in the first picture and pushing 20% body fat.

In the last picture I’m 170 lb and approximately 8% body fat (according to my Garmin index scale).

What has happened so far on the program?

I cut for about 8-9 months and lost a lot of weight and then I reverse dieted for the next three months.

Unfortunately, there was work being done to the kitchen in my house, so everything had to be packed away. As a result, I ended up reverting back to my old ways of eating fast food and general junk food. I also became quite sick and had to put my training on hold.

About 4 months ago I decided to go all in, and like clockwork the progress immediately began again. I’ve lost 50 pounds so far! Pretty soon I’m going to lean bulk after reverse dieting and see where that takes me.

What workout split from the book did you use?

I used the three-day split.

What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?

I almost gave up before I even started when I took my beginning photo. I looked at myself and didn’t know whether I could actually change.

I had always been the same shape and I didn’t believe that the years of not looking after myself could be reversed. Mike said that if you follow his plan and have faith, then the results will come. He was right.

What do you like most about the program?

What I like most about Bigger Leaner Stronger is that you can fit it in around your schedule. I work long shifts and knew that realistically I couldn’t manage more than 3 workouts a week, so I didn’t.

I enjoyed learning about the psychology of getting fit, too. For example, the pitfalls of moral debt whereby you treat yourself to a 2000 calorie pizza just because you plan on going for a jog sometime next week.

I like that the faith I showed was re-paid by weight loss and increased strength.

How does this program compare with others you’ve tried?

I had only ever tried the same old variations of starvation diets which are unsustainable, depressing, and ultimately short-lived. These diets never ended well as I ended up regaining all of the weight I had lost.

How has what you’ve achieved with your body changed other areas of your life?

Even after just a few weeks of eating non-processed food and working out, my energy levels rose and I had a general feel-good vibe. I can only think this was caused by being better nourished through my diet.

I’ve always been body-conscious, but not in a good way. I’ve never taken my t-shirt off at the beach, I’ve never felt as though clothes fit me as they should, and I’ve never stood up straight because my stomach stuck out.

This has all changed now. I wear what I want, I walk how I want, and it feels like I’m just a better version of myself than I was before.

Who would you recommend this program to and why?

Anyone can get results. But if you’re like me and in your mid to late thirties, I doubly recommend it you.

I was determined to change my health and fitness before I hit 40 in a few years–now I know I can carry on getting stronger as I age!

And I don’t mind the fact that I’ll probably look a lot better than I would have before I began my fitness journey.

Is there anything else you’d like to add?

I lost my leg when I was 21 in an accident. It also left me with damaged joints, so a lot of the compound lifts couldn’t be safely performed–especially as I was going to the gym late at night on my own.

So I modified several free weight exercises but I stuck to the principles Mike taught me about intensity, progressive overload, and making sure I was recovered properly by my next workout.

Things may have taken longer this way but this was how I progressed and it worked for me.

Did you use any Legion supplements?

Unfortunately not, I couldn’t get Legion supplements in the UK when I began back in 2015.
