I'm Alan C. and this is my story
What has happened so far on the program?
I started working out with some BLS ideals during 2012 marathon training. According to my body composition exams, which I get regularly, I gained 5 pounds of muscle mass and no fat in 7 months doing a few low rep sets of heavy weights in the evenings, and eating a ton. During this time I was running about 50 miles per week, which surely hindered bulking results. Immediately after that, I began full on BLS bulking from the book. In 3 months, I gained 10 pounds of muscle and made incredible strength gains. Unfortunately, I was having 4-5 cheat meals per week (too many), and doing cardio only 1.5 times per week on average (too little) – so I also put on 11 pounds of fat during that bulk. Live and learn. Since that bulk, I have been cutting for four weeks, and and down 9 pounds (technically 14 pounds, but I’m pretty sure 5 of it was residual water/food weight from the last weekend of bulking). During the cut, my strength has continued to increase. I have not skipped cardio once (4x/week), nor overdone my cheat meals (1x/week).
What do you like most about the program?
I like that it allows for “eating” at night (post-dinner protein and pre-bedtime shake). I used to think being healthy meant starving yourself in the evenings after dinner. I also enjoy having some high-glycemic carbs before or after my workout (I used to avoid them completely, then sneak them at detrimental times in large quantities). In that same sentiment, I love how the plan leaves room for cheat meals. Eating right was always the hardest part of being healthy for me. This plan shows that eating right doesn’t have to be constantly painful.
What, if anything, almost kept you from buying the book or starting the program?
I was planning a 30 mile ultra marathon with some friends for August 2013. If I were to do BLS training, that would conflict with running 40-50 miles per week to train for the race. This almost kept me from starting the program. The book is really cheap, so I had no problem buying.
What are three other benefits of the program?
Fast results in muscle growth! Feeling healthy and alert all day.
Would you recommend this program? If so, why?
I have recommended this program to four or five people already, three of which are already doing it and seeing results also.
