Supplement spending can rack up really quickly if you’re not careful.

I used to spend hundreds of dollars per month on supplements that did nothing, but I’ve since gotten wiser. While most of the supplements sold aren’t worth buying, some supplements are backed by good science and give your muscle-building and fat-loss routines a boost.

In this section of the recommendations, you’ll find a list of what I personally take and recommend, and why.


Not All Workout Equipment is Made Equal

While you don’t need much workout equipment, having the right gear definitely helps. Good gloves, lifting straps, shoes, shaker bottles, and so forth are “little things” that you don’t really think of, but that make your overall experience more enjoyable.

I’ve tried quite a bit of equipment over the years and have settled on a handful of products that are affordable, durable, and practical.


Good Food Makes Life Better

Whether you’re cutting, bulking, or maintaining, meeting your caloric and macronutrient targets is much more enjoyable when you have good food to eat.

I’m a pretty picker eater–I want high-quality food that tastes good–so I’ve gone through many brands of “staple” bodybuilding foods like meat, oatmeal, eggs, cottage cheese, pastas, yogurt, sweeteners, and so forth, and I’ve settled on certain brands that I’ve come to really enjoy for their nutritional value and taste.


The Books You Need to Read

Thanks to the amount of bad advice in the health and fitness industry, getting educated on what it really takes to get into great shape is becoming harder and harder.

While my books are great resources, there are definitely other books you should have in your library. You’ll find my favorites in this section!
