My starting weight on the program was 61 kgs, and I’m now at 55 kgs so I lost 6 kgs (13 lbs) over the entire period. And gained a lot of strength (even muscle-mass!).
For example I went from squatting 35 kgs to 60 kgs, deadlifting 35 kgs to 65 kgs and bench pressing from 20 kgs to 40 kgs over the span of the 3 months. And that was on a cutting-diet!
I’ve never felt as strong as I do today, a hip-injury I had for 2 years has even disappeared after the heavy squatting! I’m just absolutely thrilled!
I was apprehensive because I know a lot of misinformation about training is being spread in books, magazines and essentially all media by self-proclaimed “experts” (who are really people looking to monetize a niche-idea they have rather than actually educating the readers).
But Thinner Leaner Stronger won me over when I saw the very non-bullshit approach in the book, and that Michael Matthews cites numerous scientific studies whenever he makes a claim.
Honestly I like everything about it!
I love that you are absolutely guaranteed results if you follow the program/diet. Nothing is left to chance, and you’re never wasting your time. I also really appreciated how short and efficient the workouts were, I always finish in around an hour.
A very surprising aspect for me was how quick the transformation of my body was. When I saw myself in the mirror during the second month I couldn’t shake the feeling that it wasn’t my body because I had never looked like that in my life!
I never thought my behind could get so bouncy, that I would ever be able to carry 4 full bags of groceries home without getting tired, or do several proper pull-ups. I just feel so strong!
I never tried other programs/dieted, but I can say that even when I danced intensely for 6 months (5 times a week) my body never came close to looking like it does now or being as strong!
I feel free and strong in everything I do. I can really sense how happy my body is, and it shows in every area of my life. I never have any pains in my body and I can run to the bus in the mornings and feel like I’m bouncing because my legs are so strong! I can even do athletic dares with my brothers and have a good chance of beating them 😀
To anyone who has butt-related concerns, I just want to underline that I never, ever (really ever) thought my butt would look like this. I feel fantastically strong in my legs and I can do things today I could never do a couple of months ago.
I still can’t grasp that all I needed to get here was three months of heavy weight-lifting/cutting! So I just want to recommend TLS to anyone who has butts/leg-concerns!
Also I’d like to mention how helpful Michael himself has been as he answers all the emails he gets! Around two months into the program, I contacted him on his website because I was happy with the size of my arms at that point, and had questions on how to advance from there. He was extremely helpful and suggested that I would replace the arm-day for an extra leg-day, and so I did and it worked wonderfully!
