  • You DON’T need to grind out hours and hours of boring cardio to get lean and have a six-pack. (How many flabby treadmillers have you come across over the years?)
  • You DON’T need to obsess over “eating clean” to get ripped, and you DON’T need to completely abstain from “cheat” foods while getting down to “beach ready” body fat percentages.

Those are just a FEW of the hundreds of harmful lies and myths that keep people from ever achieving the types of bodies they really want.

And while I could tout the 1,000,000+ books I’ve sold in the last three years or the 2,500,000+ visits my websites get every month...that’s not why you should listen to me.

I don’t have outstanding genetics and wasn’t ripped my entire life. I was your normal skinny kid that got into weightlifting to impress girls, and I had no clue what I was doing at first.

Sure, I had made some gains...but the type of gains you’d hope for after 7 years of lifting 5 to 6 days per week? Not so much.

As you can imagine, I wasn’t very thrilled.

I was so used to my routine that I just went through the actions every day, but I was certain I just didn’t have the genetics to look good or get really strong or that it would require steroids.

It turns out I was wrong.

I was just making a some of the worst (and most common) fitness mistakes out there. Things like...

  • I had NO clue how to diet correctly (I thought it was all about “clean eating”)
  • I wasted ridiculous amounts of money on worthless supplements
  • I mainly did long, high-rep “pump” workouts and crappy exercises
  • I chronically overtrained everything but legs (which I neglected, of course)
  • I did WAY too much cardio and never even got lean
  • I thought “muscle confusion” was important
  • I didn’t track my progress correctly
  • And more..

And once I started doing things correctly, EVERYTHING changed, quickly and dramatically.

How Much Can You Really Trust Personal Trainers and Nutritionists?

I know this might sound COMPLETELY arrogant but after speaking and working with thousands of people over the years, I’m thoroughly convinced of the following:

Many personal trainers and nutritionists have their hearts in the right place but, unfortunately, don’t know what the hell they’re doing.

Low-carb starvation dieting is rampant. Weightlifting is rarely programmed correctly. "Clean eating" is WORSHIPPED while diet fundamentals like energy and macronutrient balance are completely ignored. Hours and hours of cardio are ordered as MANDATORY for getting lean.

The problems go on and on.

You can spot these bad trainers and coaches pretty easily: their clients look exactly the same month after month.

(They themselves also rarely even qualify as "fit" let alone ripped, which isn’t a good sign.)

You see, the truth is it doesn’t take much to get your personal trainer or nutritionist certifications.

You do a CPR class and some online studying, which teaches you just about nothing of real practical value. Then you take a couple tests that are basically impossible to fail and voila...you can now hang your shingle up as a “professional” without ever having to prove you can actually get results.

Another MAJOR problem with how many trainers and nutritionists operate boils down to an underlying conflict of interests.

Your and their goals are often very different.

You want a trainer to teach you how to get and stay fit but he or she wants as many paying clients as possible, and the easiest way to achieve that is to keep existing clients for as long as possible.

I know that might sound cynical, and I really don’t think the majority of trainers mean any harm, but it’s just a matter of economic incentives.

Now, my point here isn’t that I’m so righteous and clever and everyone else is criminal scum.
