70 Songs to Work Out To: Picks From My Playlists

70 Songs to Work Out To: Picks From My Playlists

If you’re looking for different songs to work out to, then you’ve come to the right place.

You know you’re into working out when you have your “go-to” songs for your big lifts, and when you even scrub forward to the right spots in the songs–right where they get the loudest and hit the hardest–and then go for big squats or deadlifts.

If that sounds ridiculous to you…you’re missing out.The psychological boost of music translates into the physical.

Studies have shown that the right music stimulates the nervous system and increases adrenaline levels while exercising. This can make high-intensity exercise feel easier, can help you keep up your pace while doing cardio, can help your sprint times, can improve your body’s oxygen consumption efficiency (really!), and may even increase strength.

Adrenaline also induces lipolysis (the breakdown of body fat into fatty acids that can be burned as energy), so it’s not TOO much of a stretch to say that music may even help you burn more fat while exercising.

As you would expect, the best types of music for exercise are those that, well, pump you up, not put you to sleep. Songs with fast rhythms perform best in studies like those I cited above.

Alright, with that out of the way, let’s get to the fun part. Below you’ll find 70 of my favorite songs to exercise to. I tried to include a fairly wide variety of genres, so I hope you find some stuff that you like.

  • James Stokes

I got a few of these on my gym lifting list, also when really winding up the bench press I’d put on Eminem lose yourself!!!!!!!! Great tune get your head in the game

  • DJ Llama

Notable songs on my playlists though are Killin it and Alive by Krewella, Ghosts n Stuff and Moar Ghosts n stuff by Deadmau5, Heads will Roll(remix) by Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Seven Nation Army by White Stripes original and Glitch Mob remix just to name a few. Don’t even get me started on the hip hop tracks or I’ll be here forever

  • danof2morrow

Lindsey Stirling gets my workout going!

  • Evald

Great list! Already had some of them on my list. But my all time favorite: Survivor – Eye of the tiger. Makes me push that extra rep, every single time :))

  • Limp Bizkit, “Take a Look Around”

  • Harlem Shake (when that bass drops), Dance (A$$) – Big Sean, Avicii – Levels, Let’s Go – Calvin Harris feat. Ne-Yo, We’ll Be Coming Back – Calvin Harris feat. Example, Where Them Girls At – David Guetta feat. Flo Rida & Nicki Minaj, A Millie – Lil Wayne, Get Busy – Sean Paul…
Needs a beat I can nod my head or shake a leg to! A heavy chorus that you know is coming to pump out 1MR….

  • Rob bailey – hungry, Mac miller- loud and Donald trump, like month to flames – you won’t be missed, a day to remember- the plot to bomb the panhandle and start the shooting, and Jorge Quintero- 300 violin orchestra

    • Wow never heard of any. Will have to check.

    • Awils

Jorge Quintero- 300 violin orchestra without a doubt makes me feel like god damn King Leonidas. Good call. Rocky 4 ‘Hearts on Fire’ as well as ‘Burning Heart’ are old standbys as well. At that point I’m not only lifting for lean muscle but for America and freedom. Also I enjoy anything loud/obnoxious/old school from limp bizkit, linkin park, korn, tool, etc. As for rap, Tech N9NE-Beast, Eminem-Till I Collapse, Three 6 Mafia-Hard Hittaz all seem to deliver superhuman strength when called upon.

  • 90% of the time I’m listening to this:

  • Phil

    Rocky Soundtrack

  • Mike

Wow I’m old, don’t know any of these songs. LOL give me “The Stones” “The Beatles’ Elvis etc

  • Steve

For me it’s up-tempo guitar instrumental stuff or prog metal. Usually it’ll be Steve Vai or Dream Theater or something like that. This is a cool track to run to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9y0h5F-63TA

  • Ajay

Fall out boy-“Phoenix” and “my songs know what you did in the dark”. I just discovered them, and their on repeat in my workout playlist. Also, check out “can’t hold us” by macklemore and “run this town” -jay-z posthumus remix. Those songs make me beat up the weights.

  • andrew

This dude’s funky house mixes always keep me pumping on YouTube but you can download them via video2mp3 here’s the link to one of them..https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QhpwZpOoX5Q&feature=youtube_gdata_player

  • Mozart

    those suck

  • Nick

Tyga got some sick beats, I listen to Waka Flocka lots when workin out specifically TTG, got me my 1RM from 60 pounds to 350 in 4 months 😀

  • Limp Biskit, Avenged Sevenfold, Eminem, Rammstein, Kenndrick Lamar, Jay-Z Static-X, Staind, Linkin Park (older songs), Disturbed..and the list goes on. guarantee that any one of these bands or artists will get anyone pumped. A must on your play list.

I realize this is one of your older post, I just started working out and my playlist is not very motivating. Whats your top 5 suggestions?? I’m not really into rap or electronic. I’m southern so I prefer country music but clearly most of that genre is not something that makes you want to run 5 miles lol
